Season's Greetings to all readers and colleagues. It has been a pleasure working with people all over Norwich. the region and the rest of the UK. I have even ventured to funding bids with France, Italy, Bulgaria and Spain and hope to work with Novi Sad in 2014.

Congratulations to Hull, today (November 20) named as the second UK City of Culture, beating Dundee, Leicester and Swansea into first place. Well done to all, all four cities deserve recognition for the hard work and inspiration that has to go into the bid process and I am sure they will all benefit enormously. We should all keep our eyes on Hull.

Masterpieces book wins East Anglian Book Awards
On 8 November, the Norfolk Book Awards ceremony took place at OPEN in Bank Plain
A glittering occasion – everyone certainly scrubbed up well – with fizzy sponsored by Adnams, white tablecloths and bright lights, the evening certainly looked the part. The guest of honour was Liz Calder, founder of Bloomsbury Press, who now lives in Suffolk and it was she that opened all the envelopes. There were lots of smiles and valiantly disappointed faces as each award was announced but the crowd went wild when the Masterpieces book was announced as overall winner, partly, maybe, because we all have a little bit invested in it, as people who live in East Anglia.

26 for NorwichLast week saw the launch of 26 for Norwich at The Forum Norwich - 26 for Norwich is a collaborative writing project in which 26 contemporary writers (from the wonderful www.26.org) were paired with a Norwich literary luminary and asked to produce a new piece of work in response to that writer’s legacy.
The launch unveiled the work produced by these writers (and a further 26 pieces of work from UEA students) on a new website and map of the city that will open up our streets to the stories of the magnificent writers who have forged our city’s literary history. The launch of 26 is part of Worlds Literary Festival an annual international festival run by in Norwich by Writers' Centre Norwich www.writerscentrenorwich.org.uk Link to EDP article |
