Community Empowered Asset Management
9.30am to 1.15pm , Thursday 24 Oct 2013
The King's Centre, King Street, Norwich, NR1 1PH
Voluntary Norfolk and Community Matters have joined forces to put on a half-day information session that will set the national context for Community Asset Transfer and explore the local issues and sources of local help that could lead to new ways of meeting local need.
For example, it will outline how government feasibility grants of up to £100,000 might be able to help turn an idea into a new way to keep a village hall or community centre open.
Community Asset Transfer is just one of the imaginative ways to keep communities vibrant and meeting their need for local services. Community Asset Transfer involves the transfer of management (and can include the transfer of ownership) of land and buildings from a public sector body to a community-based organisation, such as a local charity, community interest company or industrial and provident society.
Working with local voluntary and community groups to help them take on responsibility for community centres, village halls and a host of other local services could be one way to keep services running while funds are disappearing.
Confirmed speakers include representatives from a wide range of vital local assets, Voluntary Norfolk, Community Matters, Charity BackRoom and North Norfolk District Council.
Open to both voluntary and public sector colleagues, the cost for the session is just £25 for voluntary and community organisations (£40 per person for others) including refreshments.

The UK Cultural Contact Point at Visiting Arts, will present a seminar about the Creative Europe programme which supports initiatives of the cultural and creative sectors that comes in to effect in 2014. Please join us to find out about upcoming EU funding opportunities for arts, cultural, heritage and creative projects, including “cooperation projects” and anticipated funding strand details and eligibility.
We will discuss how to develop applications, how to build a good project, as well as tips on finding partners across Europe.
Creative Europe begins in 2014, although calls for application are expected later this year. Our seminars will help interested organisations prepare for applications, even though the programme hasn’t been finalised. Some elements of the current programme will be carried over for Creative Europe:
Cooperation projects will still form a major part of the programme and literary translation will also be included. There will be an additional focus on capacity building, audience development and projects supporting the reinforcement of the cultural and creative sectors through new ways of working.
Presented in partnership with Norfolk County Council, Norfolk Museums and Archaeology Service and SHARE Museums East
This event is free and open to organisations in the creative and cultural sectors. If you have registered and are unable to attend, please let us know in advance so that we can reallocate your ticket.
